FREE Services Including Web Design, Marketing, Social Media & Customer Services

We’ve put together a collective of amazing people that are willing to give up their time and offer services, free of charge to help small businesses at this difficult time.

It could be you have a small store which has been forced to close and so now you have no way of selling your goods – we’ll create a free eCommerce store for you.

Perhaps there’s a real danger that the company you worked for might not make it, or they will be cutting staff when this is over and you don’t know if you’ll have a job to go back to – we’ll create a website offering services, or a portfolio or…

How about this, you had to send your workers home and you don’t have a remote setup so, now you’re running yourself into the ground performing multiple roles – maybe a virtual assistant or customer service professional could ease your burden?

What about a situation where your business has slowed down, and your sales have dropped off – we could increase your exposure on social media to help get things moving again.

There are many ways in which we can help, just tell us what the problem is.

Who Am I and Why Do I Care?

I’m Andrew Reynolds and I started my own digital agency from home in 2018. It’s only small, but it’s allowed me to work remotely and care for my wife who had a kidney transplant in 2017, and our daughter who’s now 10-years old.

The Reynolds family started CORONAID-20 to help small businesses struggling as a result of COVID-19

I’ve worked exclusively with small businesses during my time running ReyDesign, so you could say they are the lifeblood of my business. Not only that, with small businesses, you’re not dealing with life-less corporations which allows me to get real close to many of my clients.

Small businesses are real people, with everyday problems working to support their families just like you and me.

They don’t have credit lines with banks, they don’t have the luxury of sick days, they don’t usually have the option of taking holidays as they’re often treading a fine line between success and failure.

Which is why, when it comes to a crisis like we’re currently experiencing, so many small businesses are in real danger of going bust.

With no jobs currently available and the likelihood that most of us will be forced to stay indoors for weeks, if not months, there’s a very real threat that small businesses and the real victims – the people behind them, are going to suffer financially.

Small businesses mean everything to me and my company. I’m fortunate to have low operating costs, so I can afford to wait it out, however it pains me to see so many people going through extreme anguish right now, which is compelling me to act.

The Pandemic is Crippling Big Businesses, So What Chance Do Small Ones Have?

The travel and leisure sectors have been hit hard across the globe. Many airlines, airports, hotels, cruise lines and travel operators are in serious trouble.

In the US, airlines are asking for $50bn in aid, while in the UK, companies such as Virgin Airways are collectively pleading with the government to provide £7.5bn and save them from going bankrupt.

Restaurant chains, bars, pubs, entertainment venues are all being pushed to the brink of extinction.

And these are the big names.

At the other end of the scale, you have small businesses with no way to survive days, let alone the weeks and months for which this disaster is set to continue.

I read about a Pilates instructor who can’t teach her students, so now she’s suddenly stopped earning an income.

I heard a Private taxi driver talking about how he’d recently paid for his badge, but he won’t have anyone to pick up for a while, which has placed his small business under serious threat.

There was a dog walker explaining that she’s no longer needed while the owners are staying home and as she’s self-employed, she’s not entitled to sick pay.

I read a story on the BBC website about a small business owner who arranges trips for schools. Now everyone has cancelled for Easter and no one is booking for the summer so he’s not sure his company will pull through.

A mother was saying how she teaches first aid and her weekly courses bring in £1,500 of much needed income, but now she doesn’t know what she’ll do to pay her bills.

DJ’s, photographers, wedding planners…

The list is endless and now it’s affecting virtually every small business you can think of.

Who Will Help the Self-Employed People? They’re Getting No Sick Pay and No Funding

Governments around the globe are launching aid programs and handing out tax rebates designed to protect small businesses, and ensuring people are being paid sick leave while forced to stay home as the pandemic spreads.

However, there are still millions of people that won’t receive sick pay and benefits such as the self-employed.

But despite the unprecedented help, which will do a lot to preserve many businesses, the dawn of a new financial crisis has already begun – the Coronavirus crash.

Without question, we’re going to feel the impact of this disaster for the foreseeable future. More and more businesses will begin to feel the strain, and many will not make it past the summer.

There are huge numbers of small companies that, even with help, aren’t sure if business will go back to how it was, once they return to normal, and so they will  likely be forced to cut staff numbers.

They have employees sat at home, uncertain of what their future will bring, while deeply concerned about their ability to support their families, paying their mortgages and bills.

The bad news is, the virus hasn’t even started yet! Scientists estimate that we won’t see the worst until the summer. These are the statistics which are forcing governments to lockdown countries, to prevent the virus claiming millions of lives.

This is also why everything is shutting down for 12 weeks, though some fear that may not be long enough.

People Do Extraordinary Things in Extraordinary Times

Throughout history, there are countless acts of kindness and heart-warming stories of people reaching out to help others.

WWII always springs to mind with people like Oskar Schindler (from the film Schindler’s List) who saved around 1200 Jewish people from a Nazi death. Back in the eighties during the famine of Africa, people were doing incredible things to help out. Bob Geldof’s Live Aid raised the equivalent to £500m in today’s money – ($700m).

But unfortunately, you only need to go back as far as December and the Australian Bushfire disaster to see gut-wrenching tragedy, which largely affected the animals and sadly killed an estimated billion.

However, this prompted countless acts of kindness such as the comedian appealing to her Instagram followers, raising $50m for firefighters.

Another woman posted on social media that people could use her paddocks to shelter animals and within days she had 3,000 guests.

My favourite is the pharmacist who despite seeing his home burned down days earlier and the inferno approaching fast, he decided to keep his pharmacy open to serve his customers, many of whom depended on the medication he provided.

We need one another

We may be strangers on any given day, but in tragedy and difficult times, we allow our instincts to take over. And it’s these instincts that show us what our true nature really is.

Caring, considerate, thoughtful, communal and kind. Deep down we want to help our neighbour and we do so without a second thought.

And in some ways, it’s reassuring to know that if the time comes, they’ll be there for you too.

Help Us!

I’m appealing to anyone that can volunteer their time, whether that’s just a few hours here and there, or like me, you can commit full-time. Anything you can contribute will be a massive help to ease the suffering of others.

I want to build a collective of digital workers that are willing to volunteer, so that we can offer free services to businesses and individuals in need.

Whether that’s setting up an eCommerce store for someone stuck at home, unsure if they have a job to go back to and no money coming in to pay the mortgage/rent and bills.

Or perhaps by providing free social media services to boost exposure of a struggling business that is in danger of closing due to current conditions.

There are millions of people that need our help and there’s hundreds of thousands of ways in which we can assist.

I will build teams of web developers, designers, artists, social media specialists, marketers, writers, copywriters, sales executives, virtual assistants, project managers, influencers and anyone else that can help us make a difference.

Whether you’ve got years of experience, or you’re just starting out, we need you.

Last Word

For those that can’t volunteer their time, help us spread the word. Like and share this post. If you have a website, link to it, if you have an email list let them know about us.

If you know of somebody who is going through a difficult time right now, send them our way.

If you can’t volunteer and don’t need help but you’re in a fortunate position to assist financially then please think about making a donation to help us pay for tools and service costs that we’ll need access to in order to help. Things like Adobe creative suite, email marketing software, CRM’s, chat systems, social media management tools, virtual servers, proxies, marketing analysis tools and hundreds more that will help us make a difference.

But most of all, help us get our word out and share with everyone you can think of.

Thank you.
